I am passionate about art, I see it as a very positive energy force in the world, like music,
it has the power to comfort, inspire, energise, soothe or excite, or to provoke and unnerve –
art has all these possibilities and for me provides a never ending journey of discovery.
This site showcases my latest body of work using both acrylics on canvas
and egg tempera on gesso panels.
Some years ago I was taught the ancient techniques of egg tempera and gilding and I am now revisiting this beautiful medium to produce powerful abstract pieces - almost modern day icons.
Although egg tempera has a tradition of being used in a very disciplined way to portray mainly religious subjects, its luminous quality, brilliance of colour and soft glazed surface, make it an exciting and wide ranging medium for contemporary imagery.
The work displayed on this website takes inspiration from classical
references, natural forms and dramatic landscape and most currently a body of work entitled 'The Secret Life of Things' - iconic images of the 'things' that mean so much to us in life.
