Artist Friends - worth taking a look at:

Tim Baynes: Work can be seen at www.timbaynesart.co.uk

Artist Tim Baynes draws energy from the landscape and inspiration from the sea to create works in watercolour, acrylics and oil. Travelling the world he grabs ideas from everywhere, the places he visits and people he meets – his sketchbooks are his constant companions.

Barbara Pearman: Work can be seen at: www.barbarapearman.co.uk

The energy created by the elements is the basis for all movement within the landscape and is key to Barbara's latest images. She aims to create artwork that lifts the spirits, is energetic, harmonic and engages the viewer with it's sense of space. She uses texturising fabrics, for example muslin and hessian on her canvases, giving them a new dimension and the possibility of applying the paint, be it oil or acrylics, in an expressive and liberating way.

Meliisa Setterington: Work can be seen at www.setart.co.uk

Melissa works with Acrylic paints on board, paper and Relief Works on wood. She explores polarities: the dynamics of shapes and forms expressed in a controlled/expressive, cold/hot, hard-edged/blurred-edged way. Representing them within a strong but simple composition; shapes that fight against each other in a space.

The Purple Poppy Gallery: www.purple-poppy-gallery.co.uk

The Purple Poppy Team are a small group of local artists who believe that there is a need in the area for the friendly encouragement of artists to exhibit together in style, whilst raising the profile of the talent we have locally. This is made possible by sharing the costs through a low exhibition fee and a low commission on sales. The task of putting together such an exhibition is huge but well organised and managed by the team.

The ‘Purple Poppy Gallery’ is the event, a weekend gallery style exhibition providing a platform for carefully selected artists to participate in regular gallery style exhibitions. We aim to provide a high quality exhibition space and a peaceful environment for art lovers to enjoy your work. We work hard to promote the gallery, and the reputation of the artists. We do this through targeted advertising, editorials, leafleting, posters, road boards, our extensive mailing list, web site and web links, and by using our established network of contacts. We know through our constant monitoring of visitors that we are hitting the spot, our customers love the friendly atmosphere, the quality and variety of work and above all the fact that it is artist led and not a commercial gallery. The opportunity to talk to artists about the work is a real bonus for them.
