My latest body of work takes inspiration from the natural world.  After spending this summer working on a woodland project and becoming thoroughly immersed in nature, seasonal changes and landscape, (with a particular affection for trees),  these images have emerged.

 

I have tried to capture the essence of the natural landscape rather than slavishly trying to copy nature. Some of these images are remembered fragments of beauty,  which have been incorporated into the landscape of the imagination. Egg tempera is a beautiful medium to use on these images as it allows many layers to be created, which build into a multi faceted image with hints of the elemental underlying all creation.
